About Listings

LocalBiz listings come in two distinct types. A prime consideration when we established the LocalBiz business directory, was that we wanted any business to be able to create a listing.

To achieve that, we decided to allow free listings on LocalBiz. Basic (Free) listings (example) contain basic contact information about the business so that people visiting LocalBiz can find your business and contact you.

Our main aim is to make as many Internet users as possible aware of your business, whether your business is a traditional brick & mortar one, or an Internet based model. To accomplish that we have Premium Listings (example) which contain a large amount of information about your business.

Basic Listings

Basic listings are free. As the name implies, Basic listings show simple contact information for the business, including :

• Company Name
• Postal Address
• Phone Number

Basic listings expire 3 months after you add them. This is simply to ensure the integrity of our database. We will notify you two weeks before your Basic listing expires and give you an easy method to extend your listing for another 3 months for free.

Premium Listings

Premium listings display far more comprehensive information about the business, and are now FREE. Premium listings include :

• Company Name
• 60 character overview of business
• Postal Address
• Physical Address
  
• Phone Number
• Fax Number
• Email Address
• Web Site link
• Picture
• Keywords
• 2000 character text description
• Highlighted display

A Premium Listing contains up to 2000 characters of text information about your business. This is a lot of information. What does this mean for your business, and how does it help ? To answer this question you need to be aware that a large number of people find things on the Internet using Search Engines (SearchNZ, Yahoo, AltaVista, Google etc). Search Engines love text, and more than that, they love targeted text such as your LocalBiz listing.

Your LocalBiz Premium Listing is carefully and deliberately aimed at being :

• Full of relevant, targeted text for Search Engines to find and index. When visitors view your listing, it appears on a page of its own.
  
  
• Easy for LocalBiz visitors to find. It is indexed based on the keywords you chose when you added the listing.
  
  
• Attractive to LocalBiz visitors. The ability to display a picture and modify your large text description whenever you like at no extra charge is a major benefit.

We actively help Search Engines to find your listing by rotating all premium listings through our Featured Listing spot on the LocalBiz home page. In this way a different Premium Listing is linked directly from our home page every four hours.

If you have your own web site, then a LocalBiz Premium listing will help the link popularity of your site, thereby increasing your ratings with the Search Engines.

Control Your Own Advertising
As you have already seen, Premium listings contain a large block of text which you can change whenever you like at no extra charge. This makes your LocalBiz Premium listing a great advertising tool for your business. Let's say you have a sale coming up next weekend. Simply change your LocalBiz listing to include details about the sale in your large text description. Visitors to LocalBiz will see these details and may decide to choose you over one of your competitors because of the details in your listing.

Additional Benefits
As a Premium lister, you also get access to our opt-in mailing list. Every year, you are entitled to one free paragraph in one of our email mailout to our mailing list subscribers. This is great targeted advertising, as the people who subscribe to our mailing list have asked us to send them this information. They are eager to hear about your promotions and discount offers.
